At 15: was lauded for a radio story " The Coincidence" by Content Head, BBC World Service

At 15: won my first Radio Open Short Story Competition organized by All India Radio for my story " Man by the Roadside."

At 15: a poem and several articles were selected and broadcast in " Mixed Fare Open Contest Series" to harness regional talent by All India Radio.

At 16: short story entry " You were my Happiness, Jenny" was highly acclaimed by Senior Editors of Writer's Digest, USA and described it " as a feast of emotions."

At 24: First feature published in an international magazine ASIAWEEK


1991: National writing award, Children's Book Trust (CBT) India for my humour story " Grandpa's Disappearing Act."

1992 & 1993: Runner Up ( both years) in the National Competition organized by Association of Writers and Illustrators for Children (AWIC) – iBBY Indian chapter for my stories " Bunty's Fancy Dress Party" and " The Defeated Hero" respectively.

1993: Internationally renowned poet Nissim Ezekiel handpicked three poems of mine, 'Mother' and 'I Loved to Smile' ( both published in Indian P.E.N.) and ' I'm Today's Arjun' appeared in The Independent.

1992 & 1994: Won the Runner Up prize two times in the “Tinkle National Original Short Story Contest” with the stories “Hena, The Laughing Hyena” and “King Moochvir’s Moustache” respectively.


2003: Shortlisted for a Commonwealth Short Story Award for my adult fiction entry "Kamala"

2003: My stories for teenagers 'My Son Rises', 'Tara's Diary' and 'Aunt Linda's Christmas Party' each won writing awards at national level in story contest organized by CBT, India.

2005: Stories, 'A Deserving Substitute' and 'Mind Games' win national literary prizes in the Sports Category and 'My Friend Sumita' wins in the Moral Fibre Category of CBT Competition for Writers of Children's Books.

2007: As a debutante in plays wins national writing award in One- Act Play Category in competition organized by CBT, India.

2008: Record three book titles ' Granny's Day Out', ' A Lesson for Grandma' and 'The Forgetful Major' approved by the Board of Editors, National Book Trust of India.

2010: Chosen by Scholastic India based on author popularity ratings in the country for their story-telling sessions and parenting talks.

2010: My 100th short fiction is published at national level.

2010: My teen fiction ' Song Sung True' published in the prestigious The Statesman Festival Annual Number.

2010-2011: Breaking into the best-selling Chicken Soup for the Indian Soul series with three non-fiction article selections in TEENAGE SOUL ( TEENS, TALK & RELATIONSHIP), INDIAN BRIDE and AT WORK.

2011: Radio stories broadcast over Prasar Bharati , Calcutta B in the celebrated program ' Calling all Children'.

2011: The Statesman Festival Annual Number publishes my first YA Romance 'Love@ Shillong."

2012: All India Radio Kolkata broadcasts my adult segment stories 'Leaving' and 'The Stranger' in their prestigious slot Horizons.

2012: First Indian writer for children to have published 100 short stories in all eight national popular magazines in one calendar year July 2011- June 2012.

2012: Adult flash fiction 'The Astrologer' has been published in the very prestigious U.S. website and name listed with all time great writers including Hans Christian Andersen, Dostovotsky , Maxim Gorky and many Nobel & Pulitzer Prize winners.
